 Continuing Education
                                                                                                          
Credit is available for physicians, family physicians, doctors of osteopathy, international physicians, podiatrists, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, psychologists and dietitians. Certificates of Completion/Attendance will be provided to registered attendees upon completion of the online evaluation. TARGET AUDIENCE
Physicians, scientists, nurses, nurse practitioners, dietitians, pharmacists, podiatric physicians, psychologists and other health care professionals will benefit from the comprehensive program.

ACCREDITATION STATEMENTS                                                                   

Physicians
The Global Diabetes Alliance Congress is to be accredited by the American Academy for Continuing Medical Education (AACME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  The Global Diabetes Alliance GDA designates this educational activity for a maximum of 24 Category 1 credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

Abstract CD
The conference Abstract CDs will be provided free of charge at the meeting to all meeting registrants (no abstract book). Abstracts will also be available online two weeks prior to the meeting. 

Poster Sessions    
New basic and clinical science presentations related to diabetes and its complications are invited to the conference poster sessions, please refer to the online abstract form. Posters will be available for viewing in the Poster Hall, October 27-28.

Presentations:

  • Oral Presentation: Oral presentations are 15 minutes in length. If your abstract is selected for oral presentation, you will be notified of your presentation date/time. In the event you are unable to attend, it is the Presenting Author’s responsibility to assign a co-author to present the abstract and to contact abstracts@global-diabetes.com regarding the Presenting Author change. Be sure to include the new Presenting Author's name, email address and contact phone number in your message.
  • Poster Presentation: Abstract posters will be displayed for two days (Wednesday, and Thursday) in the Poster Hall. The Presenting Author will be notified of the date and time of his/her presentation. The Presenting Author should plan to be available on this date and time to answer questions from attendees. In the event you are unable to attend, it is the Presenting Author’s responsibility to assign a co-author to present the abstract and to contact abstracts@global-diabetes.com regarding the Presenting Author change. Be sure to include the new Presenting Author's name, email address and contact phone number in your message.

Interest Group Discussion Sessions
Discussion sessions provide an opportunity for attendees to discuss subjects of mutual interest. The following Interest Groups are scheduled to host sessions in this conference:

  • Acute Complications of Diabetes
  • Chronic Complications of Diabetes
  • Epidemiology and Genetics
  • Behavioral Medicine & Education
  • Obesity, Nutrition and Insulin Resistance

Exhibit Hall
Plan to visit the conference exhibit hall, services, During the conference days, many companies will showcase the newest and most innovative products and services available to health care professionals working in the field of diabetes. The exhibit hall will be open Tuesday thru Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Opening Reception (Ticketed Function)
An Opening Welcome Reception will take place on the evening of Tuesday, 26th October 2010 at 6.00 pm in the Salah Al-Din Citadel, Old Cairo. The Citadel is one of
Cairo's most popular tourist attractions . It houses a number of museums, ancient mosques and other sites, located on a spur of limestone that had been detached from its parent Moqattam Hills by quarrying. The Citadel is one of the world's greatest monuments to medieval warfare, as well as a highly visible landmark on Cairo's eastern skyline. Particularly when viewed from the back side (from the north), the Citadel reveals a very medieval character. Corporate Symposia
Corporate Symposia are satellite programs that are planned and conducted by the corporate community in conjunction with the Scientific Sessions. These programs provide attendees with additional educational and informational opportunities. The program content and product information in these sessions are the sole responsibility of the corporate supporters. Young Investigator Travel Grant Awards
The GDA offers Young Investigator Travel Grants for the 3 top scoring abstracts submitted for presentation. The selection criteria are as follows:

  • You must be the first author on the abstract and/or the author who will deliver the Oral or Poster presentation.
  • You must have a PhD, MD, DO, DPM, RN, or RD degree.
  • For PhD, MD, DO, and DPM applicants, you must be a postdoctoral fellow or hold a title no higher than that of Assistant Professor or equivalent.
  • For RN or RD applicants, you must have received your degree/credentials within the past seven years                                                                                                                                           

The application process is fairly simple. When acceptance notifications are sent to the Corresponding/Presenting Authors in August 1st , you will be asked if you wish to apply for a Travel Grant. If you choose to apply, you will be asked to certify that you meet the above criteria. Abstract scores from the review process will determine the travel grant recipients.

Need Meeting Space?
If you'd like to hold a company training, sales meeting or other event in Cairo , Egypt from October 25-29, 2010, please fill out the Exhibitor Meeting Space Request Form and fax it to the number on the sheet. If you are not exhibiting at the meeting, complete the Non-Exhibitor Meeting Space Request Form. If your event is approved, we will confirm space at the hotel of your choice

 Media                                                                                                                                                         Top scientists, physicians and other diabetes health care professionals from around the world will gather in this event to share thoughts, new ideas and protocols for research, treatment recommendations, and advances toward a cure for diabetes. Media persons are invited to join to keep their readers, viewers, and listeners informed of latest diabetes research, treatment, technology and prevention.The Global Diabetes Alliance GDA provides complimentary access to its Scientific Sessions and Exhibit Room to credentialed members of the media, including print, broadcast and online media. Media representatives welcome to attend include reporters, writers, photographers and videographers. For these media, the conference organization provides a staffed Press Room, featuring traditional amenities, including phone/fax/modem lines, computers with Internet access, daily breakfast and lunch, and other related services. Qualified media outlets must be represented by editorial staff, not advertising or marketing staff. Publishers will not be considered part of the editorial staff.
