Second Annual Meeting of Global Diabetes Alliance (GDA 2)

Message from the Global Diabetes Alliance

The second Global Diabetes Alliance Congress will be held in Cairo, Egypt, on  October 26 -29,  2010.  Save the date for this important gathering of clinical diabetes scientists coming from all over the world to initiate collaborative clinical research projects designed to better understand and prevent the current global diabetes epidemic.  The first Congress was held in Seattle in October 2007.  As a result, working groups were formed that designed numerous research protocols that will be distributed to interested diabetes scientists.  The major goal is to conduct studies using identical protocols so that data can be shared in real time among all participants.  This will be done with the intent of gaining a deeper understanding about the pathogenesis and appropriate treatment and preventive measures for diabetes on a world-wide basis.  This Congress will be dedicated to presentation of updates about the diabetes epidemic in various parts of the world and workshops designed to initiate collaborative research projects among groups of investigators throughout the world.  The Global Diabetes Alliance Steering Committee is comprised of 15 clinical diabetes experts from many parts of the world.

Welcome to Cairo

Cairo is not just the capital city of Egypt or greatest city in Africa , the Islamic and the Arabic world , it's also the industrial and commercial heart of this gateway country which lies at the junction of Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The twin streams of Egypt's history converge just below the Delta at Cairo , where it sprawls across the Nile towards the Pyramids . Every visitor to Egypt comes here, to see the Pyramids , bazaars, mosques and Citadel, and extraordinary Antiquities Museum.  You should enjoy the fantastic mix between the old and the modern , you can see 7000 years  old antiques  just few miles away from the modern Media Production City ( Hollywood of the East ).

Cairo will host the second Global Diabetes Alliance Congress, a very special diabetes event whose Goal is to unify protocols for Epidemiological surveys, Prevention and Management of Diabetes and its related disorders. If you are involved in diabetes research or the delivery of diabetes care, you will not want to miss this unique opportunity. Welcome to Egypt acknowledged as Umm Dunya or "Mother of the World" by medieval Arabs.
